With over a billion users, today's Internet is arguably the most successful human artifact ever created. The Internet's physical infrastructure, software, and content now play an integral part of the lives of everyone on the planet, whether they interact with it directly or not. As the Internet evolves and acquires more users and richer content, it will have tremendous effects well beyond the IT domain. The Future Internet will - provision the fusion of our social and professional worlds, where all users become both consumers and providers. Online services will become efficiently automated and interoperable reinventing the networked marketplace. The standard media and telecommunications channels will again be revolutionized as our physical and virtual realities begin to merge, all the while supported over a high speed global "everywhere" network. All physical objects will be represented in the Future Internet. All providers will offer online services over the Future Internet. All users and devices will be able to access the Future Internet from everywhere. These are some of the ambitious goals behind the vision of the Future Internet, supported by STI International and the

Service Web 3.0 research project.
