Survey of Current Means to Discover Web Services

Web Service discovery is a prominent research topic since the first Web Services have been deployed. The UDDI standard has been excepted as the de facto standard to address this problem. Numerous proposals have been made by academy and industry to improve on certain aspects within Web Service Discovery. Nonetheless there are only a few operating solutions available on the public Internet. While the public UDDI repositories of big software vendors have been shut down, a number of portals have been created that server a similar purpose. This report continues several earlier works that examined the status quot for public Web Service discovery. The work on this report and the associated research has been the input for the development of the seekda Web Service search engine. The results presented reproduce the status in early 2008.
