This thesis shall investigate costs of tagging and folksonomies and
develop a model which can be used to estimate the costs of their
introduction, use and maintenance in different application settings.
Tags became popular with the uprise of Web2.0 based applications also
due to their use in social software applications such as social
bookmarking (e.g., del.icio.us) or social media sharing (e.g., Flickr or
YouTube). The term folksonomies refers to structures which evolve from
tagging efforts by end users which use free tags to categorize images,
videos, bookmarks or other resources.
