Social Media and Industry 4.0 is a future trend. This thesis is an overall approach of how crowd effects could influence the product lifecycle in a smart factory.Based on semantic technologies, market research could be improved by filtering social media data based on domain specific ontologies. The idea is an approach of interlinking the different systems of a company. Instead of data islands, an internal open data set allows the handling of internal and external communication. A semantic filter would link external unstructured content to the internal domain. This could lead to a product development that fits to marketing strategies. A prototype shows how the semantic filtering could look like. This is an enhancement to market research and the future vision of Industry 4.0.
